Peace One Day began as the vision of one man, young British filmmaker Jeremy Gilley. Launched in 1999, with the support of countless individuals and organizations, Peace One Day has successfully driven the initiative to establish the United Nations International Day of Peace as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, now fixed in the calendar as 21st September from 2002. Peace One Day is asking the people of the world to honor and celebrate the Day on the 21st September; with the vision of the Day extending far beyond the cessation of violent conflict and representing an opportunity for the people of the world to create a moment of global unity.
