The Movie The Da Vinci Code
A Qabalistic Rosicrucian Perspective
First and foremost The Da Vinci Code is a most beautiful love story...
Some Historical Highlights On The Origins Of Early Christianity
The Da Vinci Code book and movie narrative is quite revealing regarding
the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Beginnings of the Church can
be traced back to the first Council of Nicea in 325 AD, where the soon-to-be
Church fathers had the interesting task of creating a new religion. This
new religion, a religion of synthesis, was soon to be established as
the official religion of the Roman Empire. The church architects choose
for political purposes, and for the sake of unity and simplicity, only
a few of the existing Gospels, disregarded the rest, and created a powerful
dogmatic religion shrouded in mystery. Its cornerstone was the Nicean
Creed. This profound Creed was rooted in a core belief system presented
as "Gospel truth"....Perhaps, however, Gnostic Christians,
Qabalists, Rosicrucian and Goddess worshippers - to name but a few -
did not fully subscribe to the dogma of this new church.
In the historical narrative woven into the movie, The Da Vinci Code,
we learn more about the Roman Catholic Church, its historical attitudes
toward women, its inquisitions, crusades, and destruction of indigenous
peoples. We see the simultaneous amassing of great wealth and power
as the Church's hegemony spread hand in hand with the rise of The Roman
Empire. As the official religion of those times, it was determined
to maintain its monopoly on "The Truth."
CHURCHIANITY VS. CHRISTIANITY
To deepen our understanding of Christianity one needs to make a clear
distinction between "Churchianity" and Esoteric Christianity
as expounded upon in the Qabalah and the Tarot....
One of my fundamental points regarding the difference between "Churchianity" and
Christianity resides in our personal relationship vis-à-vis Jesus.
In the Rosicrucian viewpoint, Jesus is to be fully acknowledged rather
than worshipped. When worshipping Jesus, we are in some measure giving
our power away to a being who is in some way separate from us and thus
in some way superior to us. This is paradoxical in that all enlightened
spiritual teachers share common ground in the awareness that All Is One...
The role of any genuine avatar (embodiment of God) or teacher is to
direct one back to one's true Self. As it is said in Hinduism OM Tat
Sat...I am that. The truth as I understand it, is that all the powers
and divine attributes we subscribe to a being such as the master Christ
Jesus are inherent within all of us. In truth you may say that he was
and is an aspect of our higher multidimensional Self ..this Self which
is our essential true nature is rooted in Oneness and in essence is One
With All That Is.. The enclosed articles further expand on these very
important spiritual points.
I can assure you Jesus never intended to create a powerful hierarchical
church/ religion; we can thank Paul for that. Jesus was, among other
things, a very advanced Yogi who had a direct intimate connection with
the Divine (the Fat(her)- Mother God). His primary purpose was to awaken
an unconscious humanity to its essential divinity and majesty. He did
this by anchoring the Christ energy onto the planet as well as embedding
it into the noosphere of the planet, and thereby redirected the spiritual
trajectory of humanity! The result of this cosmic action was and is a
progressive individual and collective awareness to our divinity and fundamental
unity with all life in all planes and in all dimensions! Obviously one
may surmise that he was way ahead of his time! Today we are still grappling
was our less than benevolent natures...and yet the promise and/or potential
is here for an ever-expanding loving and compassionate consciousness...
An important question one needs to ask now is, has the Catholic Church
truly advanced the common good of humanity? This is a highly debatable
point. One need not disregard the Church as irrelevant. It has generated
genuine saints, some of the greatest thinkers ever, (The Jesuits), along
with an extraordinary array of some of the greatest inspired works of
art ever bequeathed to humankind... Nor can one underestimate the spiritual
solace the Church offers its adherents through its sacraments, prayers
and rituals. Additionally, one certainly needs to acknowledge that many
Catholics are doing their very best to practice and internalize the essential
teachings of Christ on a daily basis....compassion, love, forgiveness,
charity, etc... Nor can one debate the Church's commitment to the poor.
However, and this is critical, what about the psychological liberation
of its adherents? Does the Church promote genuine spiritual maturity… or
spiritual codependency? This is a point of the utmost importance in evaluating
the merits of the Roman Catholic Church, and for that matter, any other
spiritual organization!
In light of this question of spiritual maturity, many Catholics have
graduated, so to speak, and have chosen to leave the confines of the
orthodox Church in search of a deeper, more intimate spiritual life.
THE HOLY GRAIL AND THE GRAIL CUP
The long sought after Holy Grail is a great mystery that is central
to the story line of The Da Vinci Code. So what exactly is the Holy Grail?
And what is the Grail Cup? These are two profoundly important symbols
in all of Christendom.
First we will discuss the Grail Cup, which is a feminine symbol for
the womb. In the Tarot it is symbolized by the Ace Of Cups. This Tarot
card shows a chalice with light pouring down into it and overflowing
within it. In the Tarot, Cups represent the element of water, which is
synonymous with the emotion of love. In psychological terms it refers
to RECEPTIVITY, a decidedly feminine quality.
The Holy Grail as explained in the Da Vinci Code is the womb of Mary
Magdalene which carried the holy blood of Jesus and his child. The words, "Holy
Grail," are derived from the French word Sangreal, meaning "Royal
Blood." Thus the great mystery revealed in the movie is that Mary
Magdalene is the vessel or Holy Grail. In psychological and alchemical
terms, the search for the Holy Grail is none other than humanity's search
for the sacred divine feminine within. The Holy Grail is the sanctification
of the alchemical marriage, the union of the divine feminine and the
divine masculine in the human psyche. This awareness that humans have
both a masculine and a feminine nature was kept secret for a millennium.
Yet it was continuously revealed, to all those who had eyes to see and
a heart to know, through various sacred alchemical symbols as contained
in the writings of the Alchemists and embedded in the Tarot and the Qabalah.
Through the Grail quest and its actualization by Grace (via The Holy
Spirit, Shekina, the Divine Mother ) one becomes impregnated with higher
consciousness and thus is reborn into a more evolved state of awareness
- an awareness rooted in love, wisdom and power. Through this integration,
one is eternally united or reunited with the Primal Will to Good (GOD,
Goddess, All That Is)...and thus becomes a conscious co-creator with
the Divine, the Source of All Love, Wisdom and Power.
For me, the beauty of The Da Vinci Code lies in its uncovering of a
most profound and sacred love story...a story which resonated very deeply
with me...Did Jesus have a lover, a wife a child!?...Why wouldn't he
and if so did this in anyway diminish him as a Son of God? To the contrary,
Jesus, like any other man, is both human and divine...or better yet,
divinely human. Imagine the love that must have existed between Jesus
and Mary Magdalene...Just imagine the depth of that love and what that
love produced!.. A child, no doubt !!! Seems more than logical to me.
What an extraordinary love this must have been! For Mary Magdalene saw
God in him and he saw the Goddess in her. A cosmic tantric relationship
generated the fires of passion and compassion, as well as a new age (the
Piscean Age) and a new bloodline...And all this captured for all to know
throughout eternity, through the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci, so beautifully
rendered in a most unforgettable indelible moment in this film. The revelation
that Mary Magdalene was right there by his side as depicted in "The
Last Supper." I only wish they had held that magical mystical moment
longer...Indeed Jesus and Mary Magdalene were deeply in love with each
other!!!
We will now view that great masterpiece, "The Last Supper," in
a new way with new eyes, with a depth of understanding that until now
was limited...Mary Magdalene and Jesus...lovers ,friends, twin flames,
and disciples to each other!
The Da Vinci Code makes Jesus ever more human and pays homage to the
divine feminine whose life is eternally rooted in love...as so beautifully
captured in the closing moments of this remarkable movie! The final moments
directed homage to Mary Magdalene, Jesus's twin flame and in most probability
the mother of his child! Da Vinci, the great artist and genius left us
a masterpiece of profound Beauty, Truth and Goodness...an alchemical
work which speaks to the depths of our heart and soul!
In addition, the power of the Da Vinci Code is that it addresses and
confronts some of our core beliefs systems. For this reason The Da Vinci
Code is more than a breath of much-needed fresh air. It will and is serving
to stimulate vigorous discussions of some profoundly interesting subjects...
i.e. the origins of Christianity and the role of the Goddess throughout
history. One need not be threatened by the truth and or another perspective
on "the Truth," for indeed, we shall know the Truth and It
Shall Set Us Free. This oft-recited axiom applies to all our affairs
both worldly and other worldly. However, when the truth confronts conflicting
core belief systems, it can be most unwelcome and disturbing, even disturbing
to the point that the messenger of the good news is vilified, and often
hated. Sound familiar? Was this not one of the main reasons Jesus was
crucified!? The truth is: truth great and small can be both liberating
and upsetting.
In light of this awareness one may appreciate Buddhist psychology, which
is rooted in knowing one's own mind and one's own truth. Commensurate
within these profound teachings is the principle/attribute of non-attachment
to one's own beliefs. This is a very subtle point; however, genuine non-attachment
leads to an enlightened, open, and receptive mind, which is symbolized
by the Grail Cup. An open, receptive mind is a prerequisite to real spiritual
growth.
To summarize: The spiritual path, the path to enlightenment, requires
the cultivation of receptivity (active listening/meditation), deep self-inquiry,
and an earnest desire to know oneself first and foremost. Within this
broadening understanding of true Self we learn to appreciate and respect
the laws that govern life, and come to realize the infinitude, miracle
and mystery that is life itself.
One may surmise that the purpose of life is to become ever more conscious,
and in so developing, life becomes a magical mystery tour rooted in genuine
Creativity, Freedom and Joy! No longer do we need to be Right. We simply
need to Be ! To Be Ourselves...
Indeed, a new era is upon us as we move from recorded His Story (history)
to Her Story to Our Story. This New Story, Our Story, is about the awakening
of humanity to our essential true nature, as exemplified by the life
and love which existed and still exists between Christ Jesus and Mary
Magdalene. As we awaken, we can more deeply appreciate our own true nature,
which is also rooted in Truth, Beauty, Goodness, and Love. Thus we realize
that we are also keepers of the Holy Grail.
In this grand awakening we become individually and collectively conscious
co-creators with life itself and proceed in the great work of the progressive
liberation of all humanity. Health, Peace, Prosperity, and Freedom For
All...Ah-om
